Brady Corp. named among top U.S. corporate citizens

By Jim Butman

Brady Corp. has again been named to the list of "The 100 Best Corporate Citizens" published by CRO (Corporate Responsibility Officer) magazine and posted today.

The list identifies companies that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders, including shareholders, community and employees. The annual survey focuses on the corporate responsibility performance of major U.S. companies.

Brady, which ranked 70th on this year's list, is one of only a handful of companies that have made the list every year since its inception in 2000.

The list is drawn from more than 1,100 of the largest U.S. publicly traded companies, including firms in the Russell 1000, the S&P 500 and the Domini 400 Social Index. Companies are ranked on service in eight stakeholder categories: shareholders, community, governance, diversity, employees, environment, human rights and product. Ratings are drawn from the online social research database created by KLD Research & Analytics, Inc. in Boston, an independent research firm serving investment management professionals.

"The 100 Best distinguish themselves from their peers by embracing higher standards, combining strong financial performance with responsible practices on environmental and social issues," said Michael Connor, publisher and editor of CRO magazine.

"We are honored to again be recognized by CRO as being one of the 100 best corporate citizens in the U.S.," said Brady president and chief executive officer Frank Jaehnert. "We recognize that strong corporate responsibility adds value to our communities, our employees and our shareholders, and we remain committed to making a difference while making a profit."

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. was the top-ranked company on this year's list. The others in the top 10 are: Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Nike Inc., Motorola Inc., Intel Corp., International Business Machines Corp., Aglient Technologies Inc., The Timberland Co., Starbucks Coffee Co. and General Mills Inc.
