Midwest Airlines executive predicts strong year

By Jim Butman

Scott Dickson, Midwest Air Group Inc.'s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, predicted Thursday that the Oak Creek-based parent company of Midwest Airlines will continue to expand, to create more jobs and fend off a hostile takeover attempt in 2007.

Speaking at the Governor's Conference on Economic Development in Madison, Dickson said Midwest's board of directors "emphatically and unanimously" rejected the hostile takeover bids from AirTran Holdings Inc. in recent weeks.

Dickson urged business executives attending the conference to fly on Midwest Airlines whenever possible to help keep the company strong and based in Wisconsin.

"We are seeing solid bookings for 2007," he said. "So far, so good. This will be an interesting year to watch."
