Time Warner Cable announced today it will build and operate wireless Internet network covering select parking and club areas at Milwaukee's Miller Park.
The new network will enable fans to obtain high-speed internet access while tailgating or watching the game from selected areas of the ballpark.
The company said it will place wireless access points strategically around the parking lots and club areas to provide optimum coverage.
Fans will gain access to the wireless network and the Internet in one of two ways. Access will be free of charge if the user is a subscriber to either Time Warner Cable's Road Runner residential service or to Time Warner Cable's Business Class high-speed Internet access service. Other users will be able to purchase time on the network by using a credit card.
All fans accessing the Wi-Fi network will automatically have free access to Brewers.com, the official Web site of the Milwaukee Brewers.
"We are delighted to enter into a partnership with the Milwaukee Brewers to deliver this new service to our customers and to baseball fans and visitors to Miller Park," said Jack Herbert, president of Time Warner Cable-Wisconsin. "The Internet continues to grow as an indispensable source of information and services, and consumers want to have high speed access wherever they go, even at the ballpark."
Construction of the network is expected to be completed in time for the 2007 baseball season.
