Small Stones opens at new location

By Jim Butman

Small Stones, a health resource center of Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin, will celebrate its move to the V. Richards Plaza in Brookfield and its collaboration with Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops with a lineup of special events this weekend.

All of the events are free and open to the public at the new location, 17145 W. Bluemound Road, just east of the Schwartz Bookshop.

"We're thrilled to be working with Schwartz Bookshops in this wonderful new location," said Kathleen Perlewitz, director of access services at Froedtert. "The weekend will be a great combination of fun and educational activities that the whole family can enjoy."

Since its launch in 2002, Small Stones outgrew its Wauwatosa location along Watertown Plank Road. According to Perlewitz, nearly 15,000 people visit Small Stones each year.

The store offers on-site nurse educators, a health resource lending library, health screenings and workshops and a selection of books, health resources and gifts.

Perlewitz said the collaboration with Schwartz Bookshops connects Small Stones to an experienced bookseller that can manage the retail component of the store while Froedtert handles the health education and resource aspects.
