Merge eMed upgrades medical technology system

By Jim Butman

Merge eMed, a Merge Healthcare company and a leading medical imaging software and services firm, today announced the release of an upgraded radiology information system (RIS).

The company unveiled its Fusion RIS Version 3.1, which improves upon the foundation of Fusion RIS, now used as an integrated business and clinical workflow solution in more than 150 hospital-based and freestanding radiology imaging facilities.

Fusion RIS was designed with significant input from Merge eMed clients to replicate radiology workflow best practices. Version 3.1 further accelerates the solution's productivity capabilities, with a deepened feature set that is closely aligned with real-world needs of today's radiology practices, the company said.

The Fusion Delivery Service was designed to deliver more than 6,000 fax and/or print jobs per day. Coupled with the Fusion Referring Practice Portal, the new program allows referring physicians to access patient reports within minutes.

"The Fusion RIS solution has proven its effectiveness in helping organizations achieve profitable business growth," said Robert White, president of Merge eMed. "We maintain our commitment to using tangible feedback from customers, to ensure that our development efforts remain focused on issues that are relevant to organizations both large and small. As we bring together functionality that optimizes efficiency in business and clinical workflow, we will continue leveraging new technologies, while also embracing and driving industry standards."

Merge eMed is a subsidiary of Glendale-based Merge Technologies Inc.
