State honors minority business owners

Wisconsin Department of Commerce Secretary Mary Burke presented awards to a panel of business executives at the Governor's Conference on Minority Business Marketplace held in Milwaukee Wednesday.

The awards included:

- Minority Business of the Year Award: Husco International, a Waukesha manufacturer of tractors, backhoes and automotive applications; president and chief executive officer Agustin Ramirez.

- Entrepreneurial Excellence Award: Manutec Inc., a Milwaukee metal fabricator; president and CEO Irv Palmer.

- Distinguished Minority Business Award: Analytical Process Laboratory Inc., a Milwaukee metallurgical testing and environmental analysis company; president and CEO Jitendra Shah.

- Distinguished Minority Business Award: U.S. Foods & Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Madison biomedicine research company; president and CEO Rajan Vembu.
