New bar to open on Old World Third Street

By Hector Barreto

A new downtown bar with a broken-in, corner bar feel will open for business on Tuesday, said Dave and Melissa Faes, owners of the bar. The pub will be called Melissa’s The Party Bar and will be located at 1013 N. Old World Third St., which previously housed the Shangrila Lounge and the Dreams Lounge. Dave and Melissa Faes purchased the space in October after selling their West Allis bar, Melda’s Place. “It will be the corner bar in a downtown setting, where everyone knows each other and you don’t have to dress up, but you can and will still feel comfortable," Melissa said. The bar will serve appetizer-style dishes, including pizza, she said. The owners say their target demographics are patrons in their 30s and 40s. The name “party bar” comes from the party bar scene in New Orleans, where the bar is a place to meet with friends and have a good time, Dave said. He he hopes Melissa’s will also become a destination bar for crowds heading to the Bradley Center for sporting events.
