Downtown Employee Appreciation Week breakfast

Downtown Employee Appreciation Week kicked off on Monday morning with a free pancake breakfast in Red Arrow Park. The 9th annual celebratory week, running July 28-Aug. 1, salutes downtown Milwaukee's workforce for its dedication to the city. The week includes special events, office challenge games, food giveaways, discounts and more for downtown employees. On Monday, Refuge Smoothie Cafe will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin for every social media post about Downtown Employee Appreciation Week that includes "#MeetMKE." The cafe will donate up to $5,000.   more »

Newaukee's Night Market

Newaukee held its inaugural Night Market Wednesday evening in the parking lot between 4th and 5th Streets on Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. The free open-air market will be held once a month through October, and features art and craft vendors, technology installations, food trucks/carts, live art creation, performances, local music and a beer garden that will support local art organizations.   more »

833 East groundbreaking

Real estate development firm Irgens recently celebrated the groundbreaking of 833 East with a ceremony at the U.S. Bank Center. The 17-story office tower at 833 E. Michigan St. in downtown Milwaukee will contain 358,017 square feet of office space and cost an estimated $101.51 million to build. The general contractor for the project is Milwaukee-based CG Schmidt, Inc., and the architect is Milwaukee-based Kahler Slater.   more »
