Milwaukee’s Finest

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) Wisconsin Chapter recently celebrated the fundraising success of its 2013 “Milwaukee’s Finest” campaign, which generated more than $30,000. The second annual charity initiative, benefitting CFF’s research support toward a cure for cystic fibrosis, combined the philanthropic efforts of seven young professionals from greater Milwaukee. Future Milwaukee Community Leadership Program – 35th Anniversary Celebration

The Future Milwaukee Community Leadership Program, offered through Marquette University’s College of Professional Studies, on May 30 celebrated its 35th anniversary with an alumni reception titled “Honoring the Past and Engaging the Future.” Since 1978, the Future Milwaukee leadership program, which since 2005 has been housed in Marquette’s College of Professional Studies, has been building a diverse group of ethically based leaders among all sectors of the Milwaukee community. To date, there are more than 1,500 Future Milwaukee graduates who serve as leaders in business, nonprofit, government and community organizations throughout the region. Future Milwaukee is currently recruiting 35 to 40 individuals for its nine-month program. Participants will meet two times each month on Monday evenings from September 2013 through May 2014. Lad Lake's Bright Lights, Big Dreams Gala

Lad Lake, based in Dousman, recently honored four of its students with scholarships during its sixth annual Bright Lights, Big Dreams Gala held at COA Restaurant at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale. The scholarships support the nonprofit organization’s mission emphasizing education, independent living, outreach and residential services. Students awarded at the gala were selected for their strong work ethic, commitment to change and focus on personal development. BizTimes Media served as a sponsor of the event.   more »

Godfrey & Kahn celebrates Earth Day

More than 40 Godfrey & Kahn employees volunteered with the Urban Ecology Center to celebrate Earth Day and bring awareness to green education and sustainable practices on Monday. Volunteers planted more than 900 woody shrubs along the Milwaukee River shore. This will help with shore stabilization, water quality, habitat and diversity.   more »
