Description: Celebrating 100 years of service, Greyhound is bringing its Centennial Mobile Museum Tour to Milwaukee! The tour will feature a bus converted into a mobile museum displaying memorabilia such as signage, vintage driver uniforms and an entire wall of history where guests will be able to see Greyhound’s transformation over the years, as well as view videos via interactive touchscreen displays. The tours will also feature restored classic coaches, such as the 1937 Yellow Coach, 1948 ACF Brill I-41, 1968 Scenicruiser and the 1984 Americruiser 2 and a new, modern coach featuring amenities such as free Wi-Fi, leather seats, power outlets and extra legroom.

Attendees of this free festival will be able to watch more than 60 local and national artists create works of sidewalk chart art and vote on their favorite pieces in six categories: People’s Choice, Most Likely to be Hung in a Museum, Best Use of Color, Artist Youth Award, Best Animal and the newest addition, Best Dinosaur. The winner of “Best Dinosaur” will receive suite-level tickets to the arena spectacular, Walking With Dinosaurs at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

On Sunday, August 17, attendees will be able to see the finished masterpieces and results of the public vote. The festival will also include workshops for all ages to participate in as well as a Kids Area where children can create their own masterpieces and fun art projects to take home.

Polish Moon Bike-Ride

Description: Come join the Wisconsin Bike Fed and partnering Sponsors for a ride under the always-full Polish Moon (the Rockwell Clock Tower) in Walker’s point. The ride will include polka music played on the ride. The ride starts and ends at 2nd and Bruce Streets. The ride itself will be a slow, police-led, 11 mile parade style ride through the historic Polish neighborhoods on Milwaukee’s near south side. When the ride returns to 2nd and Bruce, there will be a block party featuring more live music and beverage offerings from Annodyne Coffee, Central Standard Craft Distillery, and Milwaukee Brewing Company.

Be sure to show up early enough to eat dinner though, because beginning at 6pm we will close the street and start the block party where Ben’s Cycle and Fitness/Milwaukee Bicycle Company will be grilling sausage, a taco truck for Mexican fare and Purple Door Ice Cream will be scooping up their fabulous ice cream. With ice cream, food, soda and a short, slow ride, this will be a family friendly ride and we encourage you to bring the kids to close out their summer vacation with a unique chance for them to ride safely on city streets

Recycle Electronics to Benefit People with Disabilities

Bring your computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, appliances and TVs, computer accessories like mice and keyboards or household appliances, small electronics, fans and more. Because of increased disposal cost, there will be a charge of $10 for TV recycling for TVs of all tube sizes and wooden cabinet TVs. Flat panel TVs (LED, Plasma, LCD ) and Rear projection will be accepted for free as well as any other electronics. CRT computer monitors are also still free. The data destruction process for all donated laptops and computers will follow strict identity theft prevention standards.
Recycling old computer equipment will benefit IndependenceFirst providing opportunities for people with disabilities to obtain a computer they otherwise could not afford, develop crucial job pre-skills, gain information, seek jobs or housing, and get peer support.
